We had an incredible three days in the Bale Mountains with our guide Mohamed & a wonderful chef, Awul. It was an immersive experience with truly incredible views, landscapes and wildlife. We saw and followed six Ethiopian wolves during our three days, saw Nyala, warthogs, hyraxes, hyenas & various deer. The Ethiopians we met and who were involved in our trip were unbelievably kind and hospitable, making our trip so wonderful. We felt very lucky to have got to do this trip & would so recommend it to anyone!

An excellent trekking destination with an abundance of wildlife. As an amateur photographer/film maker, I very much prefer to travel solo. However Mohamed, the guide, was very accommodating. He was patient, very easy to work with and even offered a lot of input of his own as someone who frequently works with photographers. 5 stars!

Unique experience in the most unique continent
My visit to East Africa included Rwenzori, Simien, and Bale mountains. I recommend seeing all three for the diversity. Goba was a great town to stay in with very reasonable accommodation for backpackers on a budget. My guide was Mohammed Worko, he was very knowledgeable regarding the biology/ecology and geography of the area (all guides with Bale Mountain Org are required to go through classes science and first aid classes). We saw many Ethiopian wolves and nyala, among other animals, in the backcountry. The landscape is unforgettable in this truly unique area.

Hiking through Bale Mountains with our Excellent Guidethe Bale Mountains was a beautiful experience. The nature is stunning and the locations we camped at were still so untouched. We booked the tour as a group of four friends. Everything was well-organized for our three days hike: the warm welcome, the horses to carry luggage, the food. Our guide Mohammed Worko is a very enthusiastic and experienced guide. He could tell us all about the flora and fauna in the park and we even had the luck to spot Ethiopian wolves. If you want to do a stunning hike, accustomed to your needs, and receive good care during the tour, you should definitely contact Mohammed Work tel: +251913958802 email: mohammed.worko13@gmail.com

Spent three days trekking in the Bale Mountains with Mohamed and it was one of the best parts of our trip to Ethiopia. Camping out on the plateau meant spectacular scenery, beautiful night skies and a lot of wildlife. We saw Ethiopian wolves, Nyala, hyrax, hyena and my favourite - the hyrax. Throughout the trip, we were fed wonderful food by the team chef, Awul. Everyone on the team was fantastic and made sure we had everything we needed. I would recommend this trip to anyone who likes trekking and camping. A couple of words of advice - bring suncream and warm clothes. The weather changes rapidly as you climb! Also make sure your bag is waterproofed - when it rains, it rains a lot!

I booked my 3 day trek tour through viator which put me in contact with Mr Mohamed the designated guide for my trek. it was more than a dream come true experience. Mohamed made the experience exactly what I wanted it to be without even having to ask very keen and observant. 1 day was spent in the grass lands and the 2nd day spent in the mountains where we visited the Bale mountains waterfall which was truly the highlight of the trip. My third I requested to rest but Mohamed made sure i got to experience the culture of the community by escorting me to the airport on a tuck tuck. I would strongly recommend booking a tour with Bale mountains trekking tours Ethiopia. Such an amazing experience I will remember forever. Finally he's also a great photographer, he'll make sure you have ALLLL the footage you need.

My partner and me hiked across the Bale Mountains for 10 days and were so happy to be guided by Mohamed, best tour guide (also best arabic football commentator :D) EVER. He has so much knowledge about wildlife, you can easily tell his job is his passion. Also great birding knowledge. Don't really get some of the reviews here: Yeah, hiking can be exhausting and nature can be windy and cold or sunburn you. What do you expect? Wildlife will not come to visit you in a five star hotel, you have to go wild for it :). And Bale will reward you: We saw the wolves, even pups, eagles, vultures, a serval cat, nyalas, warthogs, antilopes, mole rats, bale vervets, colobus monkeys, baboons and millions of endemic birds and plants. Mohamed definitely knows the all secret spots and was always eager to avoid the crowded areas which we really appreciated. I will never forget our funny evenings at the camp fire and Obsenet Lodge! Dema dema dema... Galatomi for everything Mohamed. I'd give SIX stars if I could!

The Bale mountains and the adjacent Harenna forest at the southern end are my personal no. 1 must-see destination for all birdwatchers and wildlife passionates in Ethiopia! We did the tour with the excellent local tour guide, Mohammed Worko, who grew up in Dinsho and knows the national park like his backyard. For me as a biologist and birdwatcher, the experience with him was really great, he knows all flowers, birds and other larger animals and can explain a lot about thei biology and ecology. He helped us finding and identifying the birds of the national park and could even show us nesting sites for some rare species. Absolute great guide! Apart from that, Mohammed is really easy to go and funny and we laughed a lot during our tour. For me, there is no better guide if you want to go hiking and wildlife / bird watching in the Bale mountains.

These mountains have definitely earned a special place in my heart. Mohammed, my guide, and Sadem, his support, were really wonderful company and shared their knowledge and passion for the mountains with me and also cooked wonderful food. We saw quite a few Ethiopian wolves which was very special and usually had the campsite for ourselves. I would highly recommend this trip for everyone who loves hiking and nature and peacefulness!

Me and four friends camped in the Bale Mountains with the help of our great guide Mohammed. We stayed in a campsite with wild animals roaming around - warthogs near our tents! We went on several relaxed nice walks in the park, and did one big adventure to the second highest peak in Ethiopia. We had a great time. Ali G, a great chef cooked delicious vegetarian meals for us. We had a warm campfire which prepared us for the cold nights and there were beautiful views of the stars. A lovely trip that I would recommend. Mohammed was very accommodating and speaks good English. It was interesting to speak to him about the park and the work that is being done to increase tourism in a responsible way.

Bale Mountain National Park had been on my list to visit for years, and is a gem of Ethiopia. My guide Mohammed Worko a Dinsho Local, was extremely knowledgeable about the area in both the town and National Park. I was at the tail end of a longer trip, and opted for a cheaper budget and he was willing to work with on me on the price providing various options and itineraries. He also provided a tent and a sleeping bag which were much needed (waking up to frost on the ground in Ethiopia was very surprising). The park is one of the most unique and incredible places I've been. Bale ranges from waterfalls, to valleys, forests, alpine plateaus and so much more. This is one of the places that displays the beauty and diversity of Ethiopia. Seeing animals such as the wolf and nyala is amazing, but only scratching the surface of Bale. The unique ecosystems and environments make this place a must do not only in Ethiopia, but Africa and the world. The flora and funa here make it seem like you could be on another planet at times.
