The Bale Mountains are incredible, untouched and so unique we loved every moment of it. We did two nights 3 days and camped in a valley and had dinner under a natural rock shelter one night and then in a forest the next! Mum had been sick before we left so was quite tired so they had a riding horse for her when she needed it and set a great leisurely pace for us so we could see everything....including beautiful scenery, local villages and people, amazing herds of Mountain Nyala, a Serval Cat, Baboons, Warthogs Rock Hyrax and of course the amazing Ethiopian Wolf! A visit to the Bale Mountains will change your life and go now while it is entirely untouched. I would highly recommend our guide Mohammad Worko who is a registered guide with Nyala Guides Associations - he is an incredible man, friendly, accommodating to our budget, full of info on all the scenery and wildlife and spent extra time in the afternoon once we had set up camp to spot the illustrious Ethiopian Wolf!

My partner and me hiked across the Bale Mountains for 10 days and were so happy to be guided by Mohamed, best tour guide (also best arabic football commentator :D) EVER. He has so much knowledge about wildlife, you can easily tell his job is his passion. Also great birding knowledge. Don't really get some of the reviews here: Yeah, hiking can be exhausting and nature can be windy and cold or sunburn you. What do you expect? Wildlife will not come to visit you in a five star hotel, you have to go wild for it :). And Bale will reward you: We saw the wolves, even pups, eagles, vultures, a serval cat, nyalas, warthogs, antilopes, mole rats, bale vervets, colobus monkeys, baboons and millions of endemic birds and plants. Mohamed definitely knows the all secret spots and was always eager to avoid the crowded areas which we really appreciated. I will never forget our funny evenings at the camp fire and Obsenet Lodge! Dema dema dema... Galatomi for everything Mohamed. I'd give SIX stars if I could!

Bale Mountains and the adjacent Harenna forest at the southern end are for me the no. 1 and must-see destination for birdwatching and wildlife passionates if you travel to Ethiopia! We had the great luck to do our tour with Mohammed Worko, a local and very well trained guide from Dinsho, who knows the national park like his backyard. Especially for me as an biologist and birdwatcher, the experience with him was really amazing, since he knew all flower, bird and mammal species and could explain us a lot about their biology and ecology. He was really helpful in finding and identifying all different kinds of species, knew the birds by their voice and even could show us some breeding sites for rare species! Absolute incredible experience Apart from that, Mohammed is a really funny and easy-to-go person and we laughed a lot and shared so many great moments during our 10 day hiking tour. For me, there is no better guide for a tour through the Bale Mountains than Mohammed, especially if you are into bird / wildlife watching

Unique experience in the most unique continent
My visit to East Africa included Rwenzori, Simien, and Bale mountains. I recommend seeing all three for the diversity. Goba was a great town to stay in with very reasonable accommodation for backpackers on a budget. My guide was Mohammed Worko, he was very knowledgeable regarding the biology/ecology and geography of the area (all guides with Bale Mountain Org are required to go through classes science and first aid classes). We saw many Ethiopian wolves and nyala, among other animals, in the backcountry. The landscape is unforgettable in this truly unique area.

Hiking through Bale Mountains with our Excellent Guidethe Bale Mountains was a beautiful experience. The nature is stunning and the locations we camped at were still so untouched. We booked the tour as a group of four friends. Everything was well-organized for our three days hike: the warm welcome, the horses to carry luggage, the food. Our guide Mohammed Worko is a very enthusiastic and experienced guide. He could tell us all about the flora and fauna in the park and we even had the luck to spot Ethiopian wolves. If you want to do a stunning hike, accustomed to your needs, and receive good care during the tour, you should definitely contact Mohammed Work tel: +251913958802 email: mohammed.worko13@gmail.com
